Jeffery Alan Love, a student at VCU School of the Arts, has started a blog similar in idea to National Novel Writing Month except instead of filling pages with 50,000 words he challenges participants to draw, completely filling in a sketchbook over the course of one month. Tomorrow I'm going to try and join in the fun, peek in at "Sketchbook Month" to see examples from months past and be inspired by the gorgeous pages you'll find there!

some sketches and an fyi, I'm a huge fan of the artist Alice Neel and just wanted to share that the documentary on her life that was released last year is soon to be available on dvd, shipping will begin Oct. 7th, it can be ordered though the usual venues (Amazon, etc) but would be of greater benefit to the filmmaker if ordered directly from his production company, SeeThink, here's a link to the trailer on YouTube, Alice Neel Trailer

more of our wonderful Byrd Theater, it's hard to know where to begin to try and capture such a grand and ornate space, this a view of the ticket collection stand just after you walk inside the door.
